Roger D. "The Rock" Clegg

March 11, 1962 — October 17, 2024

Elmwood Park, Illinois

Roger Clegg, 62, of Elmwood Park, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2024, surrounded by family after bravely battling multiple cancer diagnoses.

Roger was born on March 11, 1962, in Oak Park to Don and Ruth Clegg. He attended St. Frances of Rome Catholic School and Fenwick High School, and later studied Business Administration at Morton College (Class of 1982) and Rosary College. Known affectionately as "The Rock," Roger was a devoted husband, father, uncle, friend, and coworker—a steadfast support to everyone he loved.

He was the loving father of Cassandra Clegg (fiancé Jason Martinez) and Nicole Clegg (fiancé Eddie Szkodzinski), and dear brother of Caren Clegg, the late Richard F. “John” (Marylou) Clegg, and the late James Clegg. Roger was also a fond uncle to Rich Clegg (Olivia) and a good friend to Len Pappone, Dave Kosin, and Bradley Paul. He shared a special bond with his dog, Gizmo, who brought him great joy.

Roger spent much of his life in the automobile management and sales industry, where he earned a reputation for leadership, expertise, and his unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction. He was known for his kindness, love of good food, good music, and quality time with family and friends. As a mentor, Roger was dedicated to supporting his teams and helping them grow, leaving a lasting impact on all who worked with him.

During difficult times, Roger often shared a favorite quote from Dr. Seuss: “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
