Salvador Herrera, born on August 16th, 1981, to Ofelia and Gumaro Herrera in Chicago, Illinois, was a beloved son, brother, cherished friend, and valued family member. He also served as an impactful role model to many. Salvador left us far too soon on October 15th, 2023.
He dedicated 28 years of his life mainly working as a bartender at Butterfield Country Club, where he found joy and fulfillment in his work, providing exceptional service and building meaningful connections with co-workers, members, and guests.
He had a witty sense of humor and a way of crafting unforgettable phrases (FIERRO TIME) that everyone still remembers. His profound affection for Chicago sports, notably baseball, was a legacy passed down from his father, a dedicated Chicago White Sox fan. Sal embraced a vegan and health-conscious lifestyle, even influencing his mother and those around him to make similar choices. He had a vast network of friends, his 'Boys,' who he loved and had been a constant in his life, from his early childhood friends to the ones he made later on in life.
He loved traveling to new places and had a particular affinity for visiting Mexico, where he enjoyed listening to live Mexican bands, one of his favorite music genres. He was a family man, constantly watching over his mother and sisters, and his influence on their lives was enduring.
Sal had an unparalleled selfless soul, truly one of a kind. He will be deeply missed.
